About Charles Davidson
Charles Davidson is a consultant to tax professionals and tax business owners. He owns Accelerated Education Systems, a publisher of educational resources for the tax industry and operates 1040TaxSchool.com, an online tax school offering qualifying and continuing educational courses.
After a long and successful career in the arts, Charles entered the tax industry as a California Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP). He worked for H&R Block as a Senior Tax Consultant and Office Manager a number of years before leaving to start his own practice. At the same time, he launched Accelerated Education Systems, an online tax school offering educational programs approved by the California Tax Education Council (CTEC). Through these programs, he has taught hundreds of students – both in person and online – how to prepare income tax returns.
In 2007, Charles was appointed by the Secretary of the Treasury to serve on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, a volunteer organization whose members work with the Internal Revenue Service to identify systemic problems and recommend changes to improve IRS customer service. He served on the Small Business / Self-employed (SBSE) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) committees as well as vice-chair (2007) and chair (2008) of the geographic area representing California, Alaska, Nevada, and Hawaii. In 2009, he was elected National Chair. In this capacity, he met on several occasions with IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman and National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson to identify issues of concern to taxpayers across the country. He was also instrumental in authoring recommendations on national standards for tax preparer regulation, many of which were eventually adopted by the IRS. In December of 2009, he appeared before the Tax Reform Subcommittee of President Obama’s Presidential Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB) to recommend changes to the tax system.
Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simpson University in Christian Ministry Leadership (2002) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Higher Education from Drexel University (2011).
